چکیده

o bjectives: the objective of this study was to assess the effect of new bonding techniques on enamel surface. materials and methods: sixty upper central incisors were randomly divided into two equal groups. in the first group, metal brackets were bonded using trans- bondxt and, in the second group, the same brackets were bonded with maxcemelite. the shear bond strength (sbs) of both agents to enamel was measured and the number and length of enamel cracks before bonding, after debonding and after polishing were compared. the number of visible cracks and the adhesive remnant index (ari) scores in each group were also measured. r esults: there were significantly more enamel cracks in the transbond xt group after debonding and polishing compared to the maxcem elite group. there was no significant difference in the length of enamel cracks between the two groups; but, in each group, a significant increase in the length of enamel cracks was noticeable after debonding. polishing did not cause any statistically significant change in crack length. the sbs of maxcem elite was significantly lower than that of transbond xt (95% confidence interval). c onclusion: maxcem elite offers clinically acceptable bond strength and can thus be used as a routine adhesive for orthodontic purposes since it is less likely todamage the enamel.

Evaluation of different enamel conditioning techniques for orthodontic bonding

OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different enamel conditioning techniques for bracket bonding. METHODS Ninety-one human premolars were randomly divided in six groups of 15 specimens each. The enamel surfaces of the teeth were etched with 35% orthophosphoric acid in Group 1, with a self-etching primer in Group 2, sandblasted in Group 3, sandblasted and etched with ...

Methods and factors involved in bonding orthodontic attachments to enamel.

It is quite evident that in the practice of orthodontics, much time could be saved and much tedious labor could be avoided if a method were available to attach a bracket directly to a tooth surface. The object of this investigation was to determine if this could be accomplished by using Eastman 910 [6], a cyano-acrylate, as a bonding agent. This material is a thin , colorless liquid with a low ...

Effect of different methods for decontaminating tooth enamel after contact with blood before bonding orthodontic buttons.

PURPOSE To evaluate the best method for decontaminating tooth enamel contaminated by contact with blood before bonding orthodontic buttons. MATERIALS AND METHODS The labial surfaces of 195 bovine incisors initially received prophylaxis, followed by 37% phosphoric acid etching, adhesive application, and light polymerization. After this, the labial surfaces of all teeth were contaminated with b...
